    Program Overview
    This 12-month fellowship program provides comprehensive training in the evaluation and management of gastrointestinal, hepatic, and nutritional disorders in children. It integrates core pediatric GI concepts with hands-on experience in diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions, ensuring well-rounded expertise.


    Course Curriculum (12 Modules, 12 Months)

    Module 1: Fundamentals of Pediatric Gastroenterology

    • Anatomy and physiology of the GI tract

    • Gastrointestinal development and motility

    • Overview of GI symptoms and signs in children

    • History taking and physical examination in pediatric GI

    Module 2: Gastroesophageal Reflux and Esophageal Disorders

    • Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in infants and children

    • Eosinophilic esophagitis and esophageal motility disorders

    • Evaluation with pH-metry and esophageal manometry

    • Medical and dietary management approaches

    Module 3: Disorders of the Stomach and Intestine

    • Peptic ulcer disease and H. pylori infection

    • Functional abdominal pain and cyclic vomiting

    • Intestinal obstruction and malrotation

    • Acute and chronic diarrhea

    Module 4: Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

    Module 5: Hepatology and Liver Disorders

    • Neonatal cholestasis and metabolic liver diseases

    • Hepatitis (viral, autoimmune, drug-induced)

    • Liver function tests and imaging

    • Pediatric liver transplant indications and follow-up

    Module 6: Pancreatic Disorders in Children

    • Acute and chronic pancreatitis

    • Cystic fibrosis and exocrine pancreatic insufficiency

    • Pancreatic enzyme therapy and nutritional management

    • Pancreatic imaging and diagnostics

    Module 7: Pediatric Constipation and Functional GI Disorders

    • Functional constipation and encopresis

    • Rome IV criteria for functional GI disorders

    • Behavior modification and dietary management

    • Pharmacologic interventions and biofeedback

    Module 8: Gastrointestinal Bleeding

    • Causes of upper and lower GI bleeding in children

    • Diagnostic endoscopy and imaging

    • Acute bleeding management and blood transfusion

    • Long-term monitoring and prevention of recurrence

    Module 9: Nutritional Disorders and Feeding Issues

    • Nutritional assessment and failure to thrive

    • Food allergies, intolerances, and celiac disease

    • Feeding difficulties in neurologically impaired children

    • Parenteral and enteral nutrition support

    Module 10: GI Endoscopy and Diagnostic Procedures

    Clinical Training and Hands-On Experience
