    Program Overview

    This one-year fellowship aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of blood disorders in children, covering both benign and malignant hematologic conditions. The curriculum integrates clinical training with in-depth theoretical knowledge and research skills required for practice in pediatric hematology.

    Module 3: Hemoglobinopathies and Thalassemia

    • Sickle cell disease: pathophysiology, crisis management

    • Alpha and beta thalassemia: diagnosis and transfusion protocols

    • Chelation therapy and iron overload management

    • Genetic counseling and prenatal diagnosis

    Module 4: Bleeding Disorders and Coagulopathies

    • Hemophilia A and B: diagnosis, factor replacement

    • von Willebrand disease and platelet function defects

    • Approach to a child with bleeding

    Module 5: Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes

    Module 8: Thrombosis and Thrombophilia in Children

    Module 9: Transfusion Medicine and Blood Banking

    Clinical Training and Hands-On Experience
