    Program Overview

    This one-year fellowship aims to provide pediatricians with specialized knowledge and skills in diagnosing, managing, and preventing allergic and immunologic disorders in children. The program emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach, covering food allergies, asthma, primary immunodeficiencies, and immunotherapy, with practical exposure to allergy testing and management.


    Course Curriculum (12 Modules, 12 Months)

    Module 1: Foundations of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology

    • Immune system development in children

    • Hypersensitivity reactions (Types I–IV)

    • Epidemiology and burden of allergic diseases in children

    • Immune tolerance and mechanisms of allergy

    Module 2: Pediatric Asthma and Respiratory Allergies

    • Asthma pathophysiology and diagnosis

    • Stepwise management and inhaler techniques

    • Allergic rhinitis and sinusitis

    • Pulmonary function testing and peak flow monitoring

    Module 3: Food Allergies and Gastrointestinal Hypersensitivities

    • Common pediatric food allergens

    • Oral food challenges and elimination diets

    • Eosinophilic esophagitis and food-protein-induced enterocolitis

    • Nutritional management in food-allergic children

    Module 4: Atopic Dermatitis and Skin Allergies

    • Clinical features and staging of atopic dermatitis

    • Contact dermatitis, urticaria, and angioedema

    • Trigger identification and avoidance strategies

    • Topical therapies and systemic treatments

    Module 5: Anaphylaxis and Emergency Management

    • Recognition and grading of anaphylaxis

    • Emergency treatment protocols (Epinephrine, steroids, antihistamines)

    • Epinephrine auto-injector use and education

    • Post-anaphylaxis care and follow-up

    Module 6: Primary Immunodeficiency Disorders (PIDs)

    • Warning signs and classifications of PIDs

    • Diagnosis and immunologic workup (CBC, immunoglobulin levels, flow cytometry)

    • SCID, CVID, XLA, and phagocyte disorders

    • Immunoglobulin replacement therapy

    Module 7: Autoimmune and Autoinflammatory Disorders in Children

    • Pediatric lupus, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, vasculitis

    • Evaluation of autoimmune markers

    • Role of immune modulation and biologics

    • Differentiating infection from autoimmunity

    Module 8: Drug and Vaccine Allergies

    • Drug hypersensitivity reactions: antibiotics, NSAIDs

    • Vaccine components and adverse event reporting

    • Desensitization protocols for essential medications

    • Guidelines for safe immunization in allergic children

    Module 9: Allergy Testing and Diagnostics

    • Skin prick and intradermal testing techniques

    • Patch testing for delayed hypersensitivity

    • Serum-specific IgE testing and component-resolved diagnostics

    • Interpreting test results in the clinical context

    Module 10: Immunotherapy and Advanced Allergy Treatments

    • Subcutaneous and sublingual immunotherapy (SCIT & SLIT)

    • Indications, dosing, and monitoring of AIT

    • Advances in biologics (omalizumab, dupilumab)

    • Risks, benefits, and outcome monitoring

    Module 11: Environmental and Occupational Allergens

    • Indoor and outdoor allergen control

    • Mold, pet dander, dust mites, and pollen

    • School and daycare allergen management plans

    Module 12: Research, Ethics, and Innovations in Pediatric Allergy & Immunology

    • Research methodology and pediatric study design
