    Program Overview

    This one-year fellowship offers comprehensive training in imaging techniques, disease patterns, and radiological interventions specific to neonates, infants, and children. The course focuses on modality-based and organ-based approaches, with extensive exposure to pediatric imaging protocols and reporting.


    Course Curriculum (12 Modules, 12 Months)

    Module 1: Fundamentals of Pediatric Radiology

    • Pediatric vs adult imaging: physiological and anatomical differences

    • Radiation protection and ALARA principles

    • Pediatric sedation and contrast safety

    • Ethical and legal aspects in pediatric radiology

    Module 2: Pediatric Chest and Cardiovascular Imaging

    • Imaging of pneumonia, bronchiolitis, asthma, and TB

    • Congenital heart diseases: chest X-ray and echocardiography correlation

    • CT/MRI for mediastinal masses and vascular anomalies

    • Interpretation of neonatal chest conditions

    Module 3: Pediatric Neuroimaging

    • Neonatal brain ultrasound and transfontanelle scanning

    • MRI in developmental delay, seizures, and congenital malformations

    • Imaging in pediatric trauma and brain tumors

    • CNS infections and inflammatory disorders

    Module 4: Musculoskeletal Imaging in Children

    • Imaging of pediatric fractures and growth plate injuries

    • Congenital skeletal anomalies and bone dysplasias

    • Infections: osteomyelitis, septic arthritis

    • Pediatric tumors and metabolic bone diseases

    Module 5: Pediatric Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Imaging

    • Neonatal abdominal emergencies (NEC, malrotation, volvulus)

    • Bowel obstruction, intussusception, and Hirschsprung’s disease

    • Liver and pancreatic disorders

    • GI contrast studies and ultrasound protocols

    Module 6: Pediatric Genitourinary Imaging

    • Imaging of hydronephrosis, PUJ obstruction, and reflux

    • Congenital anomalies of the kidneys and urinary tract (CAKUT)

    • Voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG) and MR urography

    • Scrotal ultrasound and adrenal disorders

    Module 7: Pediatric Oncology Imaging

    • Neuroblastoma, Wilms tumor, leukemia, and lymphoma

    • Staging and follow-up imaging protocols

    • Role of PET-CT and MRI in pediatric cancers

    • Image-guided biopsies and interventions

    Module 8: Pediatric Emergency and Trauma Imaging

    • FAST scan, trauma protocols, and head injuries

    • Child abuse imaging and medico-legal considerations

    • Intussusception, volvulus, and acute abdomen

    • Dose optimization in emergency CT scans

    Module 9: Pediatric Interventional Radiology

    • Vascular access and PICC line placement

    • Drainage procedures and biopsies

    • Management of vascular anomalies

    • Tumor embolization and ablation (select cases)

    Module 10: Fetal and Neonatal Imaging

    • Fetal MRI and antenatal anomaly scans

    • Perinatal brain and spinal imaging

    • Imaging congenital diaphragmatic hernia and hydrops fetalis

    • Neonatal ICU imaging protocols

    Module 11: Advanced Imaging Techniques and Technology

    • Pediatric MRI protocols and sedation practices

    • Pediatric nuclear medicine: DMSA, MAG3, and bone scans

    • Diffusion imaging, spectroscopy, and 3D reconstructions

    • AI applications and automated quantification in pediatric radiology

    Module 12: Research, Reporting, and Quality Standards

    • Structured reporting formats for pediatric studies

    • Research methods and case study writing

    • Quality assurance in pediatric imaging

    • NABH & ACR standards in pediatric radiology practice


    Clinical Training and Hands-On Experience

    • Clinical postings in pediatric radiology departments
